Challenges
- Low signup rate.
- Fewer users are coming back to the app to continue their fitness routines.
- Users are confused about how to calibrate their body with the app.
Defining the Problem
After internal testing, I created a User Journey Map that outlined the steps users took to achieve their goals.
Pain Points:
- Users were confused about Gofa vs. YouTube.
- Inconsistent video lengths made scheduling workouts difficult.
- Users were unsure how to use the platform.
Potential Opportunities:
- Fully customized workout plan without decision-making.
- Workouts of similar length made it easier for users to stick to their daily schedule.
- Users wanted to see predicted potential results.
Implementation
Based on the potential opportunities, I decided to:
- Create a fully customized workout plan.
- Improve the workout preview page.
- Enhance the tutorial for clearer body calibration.
- Implement a feedback system.
#1 Fully customized workout plans
I designed personal plan summary pages using data collected from users during onboarding. These summaries delivered a user-friendly experience with:
- A snapshot of the current body status
- A clear overview of their personalized plan
- Insightful predictions of potential results
#2 Improve the workout preview page
I redesigned the workout preview page to help users quickly review their entire plan and easily understand the target areas.

#3 Enhance the tutorial for clearer body calibration
After testing three different UIs with users, I discovered that using animations for body calibration was more intuitive and significantly reduced calibration failure rates compared to static graphics. In the meantime, I integrated the process for gaining camera access into this step.

#4 Feedback system
Implementing a feedback system enabled us to collect valuable user insights, refine our product, enhance user satisfaction, and drive continuous improvement.
Conclusion & Learnings
Testing frequently and early
Experiencing firsthand how users interact with the app is crucial. It helps us save time and effort later by letting us identify and fix issues before the app is released to real users.
Visualize and highlight
Instead of grouping a large number of similar-level words together, highlight the most important information for users. Make it easy for them—don’t make them think!
