Supporting Communities Through Design: A Targeted Page Redesign for Greater Clarity

Overview

To improve the legibility of a key page (TeraSeed by LandSeed), I redesigned and implemented it with a focus on clarity and readability. By defining a clear hierarchy and structured layout, visitors can now easily understand the services LandSeed offers through this specific program on the new website page.

My Role & Contributions

As the UX/UI Designer, I led the targeted redesign of a key website page to improve clarity and user engagement. My contributions included:

  • Stakeholder collaboration & goal definition: Worked closely with stakeholders to identify pain points and clarify page objectives.
  • Information architecture redesign: Streamlined content structure to improve findability and clarity.
  • Accessible UI design & responsive implementation: Created user-friendly designs optimized for desktop and mobile, then implemented and iterated based on usability testing.
  • Navigation & footer optimization: Simplified the menu structure and refined the global footer to enhance usability across all pages.

The Organization

TeraSeed is a housing initiative by LandSeed that enables landowners to build small, self-contained, zoning-compliant houses right in their backyards.

Goals

The goal of the key page redesign was to help visitors and potential investors easily understand the services LandSeed offers through a specific program called TeraSeed, with a focus on improving clarity and readability.

Challenges

The original information on the website lacked a clear hierarchy, making it difficult for visitors and potential investors to understand what solutions TeraSeed actually offers, potentially leading to confusion or a lack of trust. With a tight timeline, it became even more crucial to quickly clarify and restructure the content to ensure key messages were communicated effectively.

Solutions

As the UX/UI Designer, I led the end-to-end design and implementation with the following actions:

  • Identified the lack of readability and hierarchy on the original TeraSeed webpage and reported to the manager
  • Requested the copywriter to rewrite and structure the content based on our needs
  • Created simple wireframes based on the revised content to confirm the layout
  • Collected past project and event photos from the manager to enrich visual storytelling
  • Due to time constraints, built and implemented the page directly in WordPress
  • Simplified the menu structure and optimized the global footer across all pages

Results

The redesign was completed within a tight timeline and significantly improved content clarity. Visitors can now navigate the page with a smoother flow and better understanding. The updated design also integrates previous case studies, along with photos and videos, which helps build trust with both visitors and potential investors. After delivering this work, the manager was impressed and invited me to support the redesign of additional pages in the future.
